Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks practiced for the first time on a Wednesday this year, likely an indicator of just how far he has progressed from his foot and knee injuries that have kept him out of multiple games.

Nicks faces the Redskins' secondary this week. Top corner DeAngelo Hall has been vulnerable against top wideouts, meaning a break-out game may be on the horizon.

The news was not so good for running back Ahmad Bradshaw, who did not participate in Wednesday's practice due to nagging foot issues.

According to Aditi Kinkhabwala of the Wall Street Journal, the deal with Ahmad Bradshaw is worth $18 million over four years, with only $9 million guaranteed.

Wow. ?Very team-friendly deal for the Giants, considering that DeAngelo Williams received $43 million over five years, with $21 million guaranteed. Williams is a better, more proven player, but he is also three years older and not without his own injury history. Consider that Williams' deal has him signed through his age 32 season, while the Giants locked up Bradshaw for what could be his prime years: 25-28.

A lot of fans have been upset at the lack of moves made by the Giants, but at least Jerry Reese has done his due diligence in signing his own free agents without having to overpay. Nicely done.

There is no doubt that the Giants will be concerned with the Panthers formidable rushing attack when they take the field for the first real game of 2010.

It wasn?t long ago, December 2008, when two of the league?s top running back stables put on a clinic in a battle for 1st seed placement in the NFC playoffs. Three of the 4 running backs featured in that Giants victory over the Panthers will be on display again tomorrow: Jonathan Stewart, DeAngelo Williams, and Brandon Jacobs.

Jacobs scored the final touchdown from 1 yard out in overtime, but the true hero of the game was former Giant Derrick Ward. Ward capped off a spectacular game with two long runs in sudden death.
