Following the Giants' Week 1 loss to the Cowboys, owner Jerry Jones invited everybody back to Cowboys Stadium in Week 8 to watch his 'Boys "beat the Giants' asses."

Jones' cockiness was understood ... at the time. Sort of, I guess.

Dallas did play their most complete game of the season in the opener. I guess if you give them 8 or so months to prepare for one game, they really give it their all.

Despite both the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles owning 2-1 records, these teams appear to be in different stratospheres right now.

After losing the opener to the Cowboys, the Giants have reeled off two straight wins over the Bucs and Panthers. The Eagles, on the other hand, skid by the Browns Week 1, beat the Ravens and fell to the undefeated Cardinals last week.

Records aside, the panic level in Philly is warranted.

Heading into?2010?-?what would end up being another disappointing season?for the Dallas Cowboys -?the running back situation wasn't?one that looked like it would?need to be addressed any time soon. But following?a?year?in which?so many things went wrong,?in 2011?just about every position?is going to be closely scrutinized in Big D.

For the Cowboys, that means a renewed focus?at running back, and thus, that's?where Dallas went in the draft, selecting Oklahoma's DeMarco Murray in the third round.

Felix Jones, Tashard Choice, and Marion Barber are already there, but Murray could end up being the starter by the time the season kicks off. Consider the following: Three years ago the Cowboys drafted Jones in the first round and he's yet to produce like Dallas expected. Choice hasn't been a?big part of the offense since the end of his rookie season in 2008. And Barber was injured and saw his role diminish last year. He may end up being released.

Next on our tour of the NFC East is the Cowboys 2011 draft.? While it would have been more economical to continue down 1-95 from New York to Philadelphia to Washington DC and visit the Redskins next, we will instead take a plane to Dallas.? It?s all being written off and paid for by SNY anyway.

Being that this is Jason Garret?s first draft, this was an opportunity for him to put his stamp on the team.? He did so, taking an offensive lineman in the first round; the first time the Cowboys have done so in roughly three centuries.

The Cowboys had the ninth overall pick, which they used on USC offensive tackle Tyron Smith.? Smith was the right pick for the Cowboys, even if it wasn?t a great value pick.? In a perfect world, they would have traded down and let Smith or Anthony Castonzo fall to them, but taking Smith ninth is the next best thing.? He was the most talented tackle in the draft, and he could anchor their offensive line for the next ten years.
