A tradition like none other: the Giants turning heads with their draft class.

The Giants had seven picks in this weekend's draft, adding depth to a number of key positions, including offensive and defensive line, running back and the secondary. Of course, a position that remained untouched was linebacker.

Alabama OL Chance Warmack

In Rotoworld's Evan Silva's two-round mock draft, the analyst projects the Giants to nab offensive guard Chance Warmack and cornerback Darius Slay in the first two rounds.

Silva's prediction of a guard goes along with the theme of addressing an aging line. Warmack is not the prototypical name that has been linked to the Giants, though. Other mock drafts have tended to connect the team with offensive tackles -- including Warmack's former teammate at Alabama, D.J. Fluker, and Menelik Watson out of Florida State.

Most mock drafts have the Giants drafting Manti Te'o, D.J. Fluker or a defensive back with their first-round selection.

Not Gil Brandt.

The NFL.com senior analyst has pegged former Florida State offensive tackle Menelik Watson falling to New York at 19, a name that has not been linked to the team thus far.

Signs point to the Giants drafting defensively in the first round of Thursday's NFL Draft, with linebacker, defensive line and defensive back heralded as positions of need.

That sentiment was echoed by ESPN's top NFL Draft insiders this week, as both Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr. project New York to bolster its secondary with the 19th selection Thursday night.

In his final mock draft, McShay writes the Giants will select cornerback D.J. Hayden out of Houston.

The NFL Draft is a mere three days away, so of course, all the rumors swirling around who is going to land where are beginning to heat up.

Numerous mock drafts have the Giants looking to bolster a couple different directions, including linebacker, offensive and defensive lines and the secondary. Among the players most commonly connected to Big Blue are linebackers Manti Te'o and Alec Ogletree, offensive tackle D.J. Fluker and cornerback Desmond Trufant.

Over the weekend, the New York Daily News diagnosed those same four positions as areas of need for the Giants in this year's draft, pointing out the linebacking unit lost Michael Boley and Chase Blackburn, and Mathias Kiwanuka has returned to the defensive line. It adds the offensive line -- aside from left tackle Will Beatty -- is aging; Justin Tuck and Kiwanuka are aging; and questions continue to surround cornerbacks Prince Amukamara and Jayron Hosley.

In ESPN analyst Todd McShay's mock draft released Wednesday, three scenarios are provided for the Giants picking 19th in the first round.

The first scenario is the Giants taking highly coveted offensive tackle D.J. Fluker. The former Alabama lineman has recently climbed up draft boards and has been rumored to be an option for Miami at No. 12.

"The Giants aren't known for taking offensive linemen early, but Fluker would offer a boost up front with his balance, footwork and mauling presence in the running game," writes McShay.
Scenario 2 has Big Blue sweeping former Georgia middle linebacker Alec Ogletree off the board. Ogletree is considered among the top two or three inside backers in this year's draft, including Manti Te'o of Notre Dame.

In Mel Kiper Jr.'s first two-round mock draft, the longtime NFL Draft prognosticator suggests the New York Giants will select a cornerback and linebacker, respectively, with their first and second-round picks.

At No. 19, Kiper projects the Giants to draft cornerback Desmond Trufant from the University of Washington. The 6-foot, 190-pound former Huskie impressed at the NFL Combine, solidifying his status as a first-round talent.

NFL.com compares Trufant to Cardinals cornerback Antoine Cason, praising him for his size, athleticism and short-area foot quickness. However, experts believe he'll have to improve his overall strength on the professional level.

There's a lot to like about Washington DB Desmond Trufant, whose draft stock has been rising of late.

The Giants have been connected to a number of different players with the 19th selection in April's NFL Draft, most of which has centered around the team's moves during free agency.

Among the names floated around have been Tyler Eifert, the tight end from Notre Dame, Alec Ogletree, the linebacker out of Georgia, and Datone Jones, the defensive lineman out of UCLA.
