Brodeur is eligible to return in time for Monday's game against the Maple Leafs and DeBoer said Thursday it's possible Brodeur could meet up with the team in Toronto.
I's certainly good news that Brodeur's injury is healing enough where he could be activated as soon as he's eligible, but I have my doubts about Hedberg playing in four straight games. I won't go deep into it, as I laid out my thoughts pretty extensively the other day. I will say that the timing of Brodeur's injury makes it all a little worse. Although no one will confuse the Jets or Sabres (Saturday's opponent) with worldbeaters, they're still teams capable of stealing a game if the Devils get shaky goaltending. Hedberg already has played two straight and hasn't looked great in either and with the Devils in the midst of a 10-day strugglefest, wins are at a premium. Can Hedberg rebound with two straight wins? And what if Brodeur can't play Monday? Will it be five straight for Moose or will the rookie get his first start against the surprising Leafs in Toronto? Yeahhh... about that.
