Clearly big sellers at the NHL trade deadline, the Devils have sent defenseman Sami Vatanen to the Carolina Hurricanes and goaltender Louis Domingue to the Vancouver Canucks, per multiple reports.
Vatanen, who is currently on injured reserve, is being traded to Carolina, per TSN's Pierre LeBrun, for prospects Fredrik Claesson, Janne Kuokkanen and a conditional fourth -ound pick, reports NHL Network's Elliotte Friedman.
Domingue will cross the border to Canada, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie, in exchange for fellow goalie Zane McIntyre.
An eight-year veteran and unrestricted free agent, Vatanen was expected to get out of New Jersey, and will now bolster a Hurricanes defense that is trying to reach the playoffs.
In regards to the Canucks trading for Domingue, it's possible that G Jacob Markstrom could be hurt if they were in need for a better goalie at the deadline.
In 16 games played this season, Domingue holds a 3-8 record with 47 goals allowed and a .882 save percentage.
These two finals trades conclude a big deadline day for the Devils, who also sent Wayne Simmonds to the Sabres earlier Monday morning.
