Zach Parise Postgame:
“It’s almost as if it was two different teams. Everything we did well in Washington, we didn’t really carry it over to tonight’s game.”
Pete DeBoer Postgame:
“We didn’t do enough to create enough as a group. We didn’t get enough point shots through. Our forwards didn’t get enough zone time. Our goaltender gave us a chance to get points tonight and we didn’t do enough to create offense.”
Islanders and Devils tied in draws 23-23
Islanders outshot the Devils 25-24
Devils went 0 for 1 on the power play.
Devils outhit the Islanders 23-20
The Devils defensively were not terrible. There were time of pressure by the Islanders but kept them mostly in check. The story of this game was the fact that the Devils offense couldn't get many shots with the amount of time they spent in the Islanders' zone. They gave rookie goaltender Anders Nilsson many easy shots to handle. The Islanders defense also blocked a ton of shots. They just wouldn't give the Devils anything. You have to give the Islanders props after this one. The Devils have to change this if they hope to beat the Rangers and Islanders this week.
