Devils forward Taylor Hall underwent arthroscopic surgery for a torn meniscus in his left knee and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks, the team announced Wednesday.
Forward Blake Pietila has been called up from the AHL to replace Hall in the lineup and will join the team in Anaheim for Thursday night's game.
Hall sat out Tuesday's game against the Stars with what was called a lower-body injury. He was sent back to New Jersey on Tuesday for an MRI to determine the severity of the injury.
After being acquired from the Oilers in exchange for Adam Larsson, Hall has tallied five goals and seven assists in 14 games.
Pietila had 11 points in 12 games in the AHL this season.
