According to reports, Bobby Butler has signed a one-year, 2-way contract with the Devils.

Butler, 25, spend the last three seasons playing for the Ottawa Senators. In 94 career games, Butler has 16 goals and 21 assists on his resume.

According to Tom Gulitti of Fire and Ice, Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said Butler's performance will determine if he' on NHL roster or in Albany.

Gulitti writes that Lamoriello feels that Butler has potential to be "a top six forward" and that he'll be given every opportunity.

Also, Gulitti mentions that Lamoriello consulted with former Binghamton coach Kurt Kleinendorst and New Hampshire coach Dick Umile before signing Butler.

Bulter played four years at the University of New Hampshire.
