Schneider was embarrassed on Thursday night, after a bounce off the back boards ricocheted off the back of his leg and into the goal to extend Washington's lead to 5-2. Schneider was lifted in Thursday's game after the silly goal.
"We felt good about our chances going into the third period (down 3-2) and then they got a good break on the fourth one, and then obviously the fifth one," Schneider said after Thursday's game. "It's all on me and it just really took the wind out of our sails."
The Devils are 3-1-0 over their first four games, mostly due to the fact that they've outscored their opponents 15-12. Eleven goals were scored against Schnieder, with one goal coming against Scott Clemmensen, when he came in late in Thursday's game.
