Now Commenting On:

While the Devils squared off against the Ottawa Senators Wednesday night at the Prudential Center, it was a more peaceful scene on the concourse as more than 100 Devils fans gathered for a menorah lighting to mark the second night of Hanukkah (ESPN, Dec. 17).

Rabbi Mendel Solomon and Rabbi Zalman Grossbaum led the fans in blessings over the menorah and traditional songs to celebrate the Jewish Festival of Lights and Jewish Heritage night.

Along with the communal candle lighting, fans attending as part of Jewish groups received t-shirts with 'Let's Go Devils" written in Hebrew and were treated to a performance by the popular a cappella group The Maccabeats.

It was also a night for giving as the Friendship Circle, a Jewish community organization that provides recreational and social activities to children with special needs - led by Grossbaum - received $5,767 from the 50/50 raffle.
