Pete DeBoer told the press corps on Friday that Tallinder will not trek to Raleigh with the Devils for the Devils' game with the Hurricanes on Saturday. Tallinder injured himself during warmups Thursday night.
Tallinder's struggled all year -- perhaps this injury has had something to do with it. Whether he's been injured all season, or if he actually did hurt himself prior to New Jersey's 3-2 win over Buffalo, getting No. 7 healthy is of paramount importance to the Devils.
If you're a conspiracy theorist and believe Tallinder's being held out to preserve his trade value, it's a possibility. The Dany Heatley rumor-- which neither reporters nor rumor mongers have even brought up-- is popular on Twitter, and if Tallinder's legs are bothering him, there's no sense damaging a.) New Jersey's on-ice product and b.) his trade value.
Either way, it sounds like Mark Fayne and Peter Harrold will be back in the lineup Saturday night.
