As the Devils were tied 3-3 with the Sabres in the third period of an eventual 4-3 overtime loss, Taylor Hall appeared to put the Devils ahead before his goal was called back for offsides.
Much of the fanbase was frustrated as it was an impossibly close call, but Hall isn't too bothered by it.
"That's the nature of the game, that's why the rule is there," Hall said, via Andrew Gross of Record. "If we're on the other side of the that, you want the right call, so that's the way it goes sometimes."
Hall feared as he was about to receive the puck that he might have gone just a fraction too soon.
"I'm on the breakaway and I'm thinking this is maybe going to be offsides, that's the way it goes sometimes," Hall said. "In my head I was trying to keep my foot down onside as long as possible but I also wanted to get some separation for the breakaway there."
Nonetheless, the Devils finish an impressive six-game homestand stand with five wins and an overtime loss.
"We're feeling pretty good about our game," Hall said. "Tonight was a strong effort... You're not going to get a win every night but it's about how you play."
