I'm meandering through the list of Mets Sterling Award Winners. From the system level winners, through AAA to AA and now to advanced-A and 24-year-old 3B/LF Dustin Lawley.

A thirdbaseman and centerfielder in college at West Florida, where he helped the Argonauts win a DII title, Lawley has mostly played left field as a professional.

This has been a busy awards season for the 24-year-old Lawley, who also collected the FSL's MVP award thanks to a .260/.313/.512 line with 25 homeruns and 92 RBI in 122 games for St. Lucie. The Mets rewarded Lawley with a late-season promotion to AAA Las Vegas for the final week of the regular season and the playoffs.

A+: St. Lucie Mets 9, Charlotte Stone Crabs (TB) 4?

LF Dustin Lawley's seventh inning grand slam turned a one-run game into a much more comfortable five-run game. The 24-year-old is hitting .264/.314/.539 with 24 doubles, five triples and 19 homers. He's now tops in the FSL in homeruns and total bases. After a .231/.289/.490 performance in 65 games in the first half, Lawley is off to a batting average/homer powered .373/.400/.707 start with six homers, three walks and 14 strikeouts in 19 games in the second half. Lawley is strong, but has been old for every league in which he has played.

On the infield, Kevin Plawecki played his second game at first base in the last five days and was 2-for-4 with a double. The 22-year-old is hitting .333/.382/.460 in 17 games in advanced-A. A little extra versatility is a nice thing, and playing first will let him stay in the lineup and ease the strain on his legs. All the same, while I like the bat, I like it combined with his ability to catch because I don't see enough power to profile at first.
