Zach Lutz (2-3, HR(10), 3RBI) homered for the fifth time in his last 12 games, leading the Bisons to a 10-2 rout over Columbus. ?Lutz pushes his season totals to .312/.398/.534, with 10 HR and 27 RBI (53 games).
When healthy and in the lineup, Lutz has hit at every level, but like a couple of other unnamed Mets prospects he just has to find a way to stay on the field.

Dylan Owen allowed just two runs over six innings of work, while the Bisons offense could only muster one run on the night. Owen (6 IP, 6 hits, 2 er, 2 bb, 5 k, HR) falls to 2-4 on the season, as the only runs he allowed were on a two-run home run to Durham's Desmond Jennings in the third inning.
This doesn't really change anything about Owen's projection, but it is a really nice way to start the new year.? Rather, it says something about the level of competition in the PWL.? Owen began last year for AA Binghamton where he made 10 starts and 16 relief appearances with a 3.94 ERA and 4.2 BB/9 and 7.3 K/9.? Promoted to AAA Buffalo, he ran a 7.11 ERA in 44.1 IP in which he allowed 59 hits.
Here was Owen's 2010 by level:

CF Kirk Nieuwenhuis gave the Mets the early lead with a solo homer, his ninth, in the top of the first inning.? Nieuwenhuis (.252/.344/.439) was 2-4 with a double and a jack.? He's doing a lot of the things good offensive players do: hitting homers, drawing walks (26), stealing bases (10), but is just missing the quantity of singles that would make his triple-slash stats look better.? Is? this because he's having trouble making contact (57 K in 230 AB over 59 games) or just been a little unlucky?

J.P. (Hartford): Does Brad Holt start 09 at Bingo, or does he stay in PSL until the weather warms up? And how's the breaking stuff coming along?
