Adam Gase is beginning to bring in some familiar faces in his role as Jets interim GM.

The Jets announced on Monday that they signed punter Matt Darr to their 90-man roster.

Darr, 26, was the Dolphins' punter in 2016 when Gase began his tenure in Miami but was waived in September 2017. He was signed by the Buffalo Bills late last season and appeared in five games.

Vikings pull away from Jets 00:01:25
Todd Bowles, Sam Darnold, Jermaine Kearse and Jamal Adams comment on the Jets' mistake-riddled, 37-17 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - The Jets could have made a huge statement by beating the Minnesota Vikings, a true NFC contender, in what would've been their biggest victory of the season. And the Jets' defense did all it could to make it happen.

But in the end, the Jets learned what should have been obvious:

Sam Darnold isn't ready to be a contender just yet...

Bowles, McCown on overtime win 00:01:52
Jets head coach Todd Bowles and quarterback Josh McCown recap the 23-20 overtime victory over the Jaguars and how they never gave up.

Chandler Catanzaro kicked a 41-yard field goal with 28 seconds left in overtime, lifting the New York Jets to a wacky 23-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

After Catanzaro split the uprights, he and his teammates celebrated wildly in the middle of the field - but then had to wait a moment because there was a penalty flag on the field. The officials ruled there actually was no penalty on the play - giving the Jets the victory.

Jets coach Rex Ryan mixed humor and defensiveness Friday reacting to Braylon Edwards' critical comments about his former team on SNY's GEICO SportsNite Thursday (McManus, Oct. 10).

Ryan took several questions about Edwards' comments before asking, "What was Braylon doing? Trying to get a full-time gig or something?"

But Ryan turned serious when asked about Edwards' assertion that Ryan's "ego" was getting in the way of the coach's ability to adapt. "It?s player over scheme so we?ll always do what maxes our abilities, the talent of our players," Ryan said. "Always have. I can agree with Braylon about a lot of things, but I?m 100 percent in disagreement with this one."

Historically, the New York Giants have owned the Atlanta Falcons -- in the regular season, in the playoffs -- that was until this season.

Atlanta dismantled New York, just as the Giants tried to make one last playoff push.

Now it appears as if the NFC's top-seeded team may have interest in plucking one of the Giants main cogs and potential free-agent targets.

I am happy to introduce a new weekly columnist for TheJetsBlog, Kristine Reese. ?Kristine writes about football in many places and you can find much of her work at Aerys Sports, a great site dedicated to women writing about sports. ?By way of introduction, a few months ago I started watching Erik Manassy's Spreecasts and was really impressed with Kristine Reese's level of knowledge of the Jets. ?She follows the team with more dedication and passion than most people I know and she's a fantastic writer. ?We're happy to bring Kristine aboard and hope you will give her a warm welcome! ?Be sure to follow Kristine on Twitter @KristineReese.

At the conclusion of OTA's Thursday, Rex Ryan revealed he was pleased with the team?s young up and coming receiving corps. However, GM Mike?Tannenbaum?could be on the lookout for another wide receiver to add to the group.

For the next couple of weeks I will try to go over the holes that this team has going into the NFL Draft with their options on how to deal with it along with how I think they should approach it

The Problem:?During the 2011 season the Jets struggled to get their passing game going. They finished the season 21st in passing offense, their best receiver, Dustin Keller, finished with a total of 815 yards, and Santonio Holmes struggled to get separation for most of the season, finishing with just 654 yards. Although, Santonio has the ability to be a threat on the fly pattern, overall his real strength is that slant pattern that he did so well during the 2010 season. But for that to work the Jets need to sign a credible deep threat next to him to take opposing defenses away from Santonio a little. The Jets thought Plax could be that guy, but he was not, and now they need to find a deep threat that defenses have to game plan for.

Gang Green swung and missed on Asomugha this week, it's a tough pill to swallow but we need to move on. What magic Tanny has needs to be tapped into now.

With negotiations moving forward with Cromartie and Braylon likely not being brought back the Jets will be looking for more help.

Let's play GM for a moment. Knowing what our needs are, what would be your top three moves?

Remember those last days of school before a big vacation? Those were the days before the holidays or summer, where you reported to class but were too excited to focus on anything else but the anticipation of what was to come. Following Monday?s speculation that the lockout just may be coming to an end, an entire nation of football fans are experiencing that feeling again.

But with a return to football comes an abrupt and intensely condensed free agency period. For the Giants, many current players (on the roster in 2010) are not far from certain to return. TE Kevin Boss and HB Ahmad Bradshaw should be relatively easy to woo back into a blue jersey whenever signings are sanctioned. Equally likely is the departure of veteran DT Barry Cofield. Cofield?s talent is certainly welcome, but his price tag may just be deemed expendable due to the arrival of rookie Marvin Austin.

A handful of expected, and likely unexpected, free agent targets from other organizations are sure to hear from Jerry Reese shortly. One or more of these targets could very likely be a wide receiver.

Let's imagine, for the sake of argument, that somehow, after negotiations finally end, we end up with another cap-free year. And the Jets front office finds itself with an unlimited amount of cash it can use to go after any free agent it desires. Who would the team chase? Who would you want them to chase? In this post, I describe my dream 2011 Jets roster. It'll never happen, but on a lazy Indepedence Day weekend, it's fun to speculate. More after the jump.

Wide Receiver - I'm already breaking my own rules. Obviously, I'd love to see both Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards return, but to make this interesting, I'll pretend that Edwards makes a personal decision to take his talents elsewhere. I'd like to see the Jets go after Vikings WR Sidney Rice. Hobbled by a hip injury in 2010, Rice's production waned, but if he's healthy, his size, speed, and the 1312 yards and 8 touchdowns he had in 2009 would be a great addition to the team. Let's not even talk about Brad Smith leaving. In this fantasy, he stays. End of story.

Running Back - To be honest, I don't think I'd change a thing in the backfield. I like LT and Shonn Greene right where they are and am excited to see Greene continue to develop this season.
