RB Bilal Powell, who missed last week's game due to a calf injury, practiced on Thursday and will return when the Jets face the Dolphins on Sunday in Miami, head coach Todd Bowles said.

DE Muhammad Wilkerson (shoulder/toe) was the only Jets player who didn't practice on Thursday.

Bent, theJetsBlog.com Follow on Twitter: Powell should hopefully give a boost to the Jets' struggling running game, although I suspect the team's inability to get the running game going has more to do with how overmatched the Jets have been in the trenches...

While much of the attention from the Jets' loss to the Patriots will be focused on the controversial overturned touchdown in the fourth quarter, the Jets only have themselves to blame for giving up 24 unanswered points and letting New England back into the game.

Nevertheless, they gave a good account of themselves and, despite some glaring weaknesses, continued to prove that they're a more talented group than most people gave them credit for before the season...

Jets RB Bilal Powell (calf) and DE Muhammad Wilkerson (toe/shoulder) are listed as questionable and will be game-time decisions on Sunday against the Patriots, head coach Todd Bowles said on Friday.

Powel and Wilkerson missed practice the last three days.

I think the Jets will be comfortable to give Powell the week off. With Forté back in the lineup and Elijah McGuire filling in adequately so far, it would make sense to give Powell another week to recover. New England's run defense has been shaky so far, but any Jets success in Sunday's game will likely hinge more on the offensive line than who carries the ball...

Bent, theJetsBlog.com Follow on Twitter: The Jets won their third consecutive game on Sunday, but this was a performance that was very rough around the edges. The Browns gained almost twice as many yards as the Jets (419 to 212) but kept shooting themselves in the foot whenever they had a chance to score.

In the second half, the Jets converted in the red zone to take the lead after a Browns turnover, before putting together a 97-yard drive for what would prove to be the clinching score.

Let's start this week by focusing on the offense:

While there was outside talk that the New York Jets were going to tank the 2017 season, the players aren't surprised after Sunday's 17-14 win over the Cleveland Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium gave them a three-game winning streak and put them in a three-way tie for first place in the AFC East.

"Sounds like that's how it's supposed to be," cornerback Morris Claiborne, who had one of New York's two interceptions, said, according to Newsday's Calvin Watkins.

New York, which lost the first two games of the season by a combined score of 66-32, has won three games in a row for the first time since winning five in a row from Week 12 to Week 16 in 2015.

Combined with the New England Patriots' win on Thursday and the Buffalo Bills' 20-16 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, the Jets are in a three-way tie for the division lead heading into their Week 6 matchup against the defending Super Bowl champions.

Jets running backs Bilal Powell and Elijah McGuire both put together great performances in the Jets' overtime win on Sunday.

The Jets ran for a combined 256 yards on eight yards per carry as they took advantage of the Jaguars' run defense, which is ranked 28th in the NFL this season. Head coach Todd Bowles loved what he saw on the ground.

"Both those guys did a great job popping through and running the football," Bowles told Jets.com's Eric Allen. "It's a tough defense to run against. We needed every big play they got. Those guys did a heck of a job."

The Jets continued to confound their critics on Sunday, eventually pulling out a win over the Jaguars in overtime after having blown a 10-point fourth quarter lead. Big plays in the running game and effective pass coverage sparked the win, which was finished off by Chandler Catanzaro's game-winning field goal in the last minute of overtime.

Let's start this week by focusing on the offense...

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Elijah McGuire was pretty excited watching from the sidelines when his teammate, Bilal Powell, burst up the middle for a 75-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. So imagine how he felt two quarters later when he nearly matched it with a long touchdown run of his own?

"Oh, you can cancel Christmas," the rookie joked after the Jets' 23-20 overtime win at MetLife Stadium.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- They heard it, even though they pretended not to listen. They heard every demeaning word, every cry that they're tanking the season, every prediction that they were destined to go 0-16. They heard from media, from fans, from family, from friends.

"The more people talked about us, the more our family members and friends hit us up and said, 'You all are going to be trash this year. They're saying you're not going to win a game,'" Jets linebacker Jordan Jenkins said. "After a while it just gets to be where enough is enough."

Bowles, McCown on overtime win 00:01:52
Jets head coach Todd Bowles and quarterback Josh McCown recap the 23-20 overtime victory over the Jaguars and how they never gave up.

Chandler Catanzaro kicked a 41-yard field goal with 28 seconds left in overtime, lifting the New York Jets to a wacky 23-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

After Catanzaro split the uprights, he and his teammates celebrated wildly in the middle of the field - but then had to wait a moment because there was a penalty flag on the field. The officials ruled there actually was no penalty on the play - giving the Jets the victory.

After putting up 38 total yards in their season opener, the Jets' run game saw an increase in production in loss to the Raiders Sunday.

Veteran RB Matt Forte was the leader of the running back committee after posting a dismal 16 yards on six carries against the Bills last week. He posted 53 yards on nine carries with his longest being a 16-yard gain.

Bent, theJetsBlog.com Follow on Twitter: After a disappointing first game, the Jets had more success with their running game this week, as three backs combined for 95 yards on 21 carries.
