Sometimes you just can't hide the truth. The Giants simply played some dumb football in the red zone with the game on the line. Instead of taking the game back from Seattle, they pissed it away by throwing an ill-advised pass instead of just running the ball... From Bob Raissman of the Daily News:
(Bob) Papa, the Giants/WFAN Radio Network play-by-play man, scolded Manning for "forcing the ball into traffic." Banks, the Giants radio analyst, had every right to do what 98% of these analysts do - kiss their own tuchis before going into I-told-you-so mode.
Instead he made a larger, more important point. One that could come back to haunt the Giants and their fans.
Banks talked about "discipline." He didn't just refer to Will Beatty's first-and-goal false-start penalty with 1:27 left in the fourth that pushed the Giants back to the 10, right before Browner's pick-six.
"Lack of discipline is when you make a bad decision with the football when you don't have to," Banks said. "Lack of discipline is being too predictable. Every time you (the Giants) come off a penalty you are passing the football."
