The free agent buzz surrounding the Giants has been a low one thus far, with only a few names leaking out. The Giants are rumored to have interest in Kansas City safety Ron Parker and DT Dan Williams of the Cardinals.
Both players are in the Giants' wheelhouse for need, age (27) and upside. And both appear to be affordable. From Rotoworld:
As many as seven teams have been linked to Parker, including the Falcons, Jets, Bucs, and Giants. Kansas City also hasn't ruled out bringing him back. Parker is reportedly seeking $6 million annually, but is likely to fall short of his asking price.Parker is out of Newberry College (the same school that produced WR Corey Washington) and he may consider the Giants the right place for him. He came into his own in 2014, recording 94 tackles (84 solo) with one INT and a FF.
He is also pliable, just like many of the Giants' DBs over the past decade have been and can be placed at multiple positions. Could he be the replacement for Antrel Rolle should Rolle leave? I don't think there's enough tape and data on Parker to answer that at this point in time.
Williams, a five-year veteran out of Tennessee, is 6'3", 314 and is a noted run-stopper. The Giants are in need of early down DTs for their rotation. Williams could be a fit for them. The issue, like with Parker, is that the Giants might have to get into a bidding war to land him.
