Jones' Agent, Father Believe Surgery Went WellWe finally have a bit more information on Chad Jones' condition tonight. After nearly eight hours of surgery today, Jones is resting in a New Orleans hospital.
Jones' agent, Rocky Arceneaux, told the Newark Star-Ledger that Jones was resting and that the prognosis was positive.
"Up to this point, yeah, I think everything went smoothly," Arceneaux told the paper. "Obviously, they won't know (the long-term prognosis) for a while, but everything I'm hearing is good."
The paper asked Arceneaux if blood flow had been restored to Jones' foot. "I'm sure it is," the agent said. "I don't think they would have come out of there if it wasn't."Jones' father, Al, a high school principal, was also thinking positive thoughts as per the Baton Rough Advocate....
"The surgery was successful," said Jones' father, Al, after emerging from the hospital on Friday evening, to The Associated Press. "The rehab is going to take awhile."
Al Jones said the major concern related to improving blood flow around the ankle and that it appeared doctors were able to address that.
Al Jones said his son was still heavily sedated but opened his eyes when he heard his mother's voice and was aware of his parents' presence.
"Chad got this far. God brought him this far. He's not going to leave him alone," Al Jones told The Associated Press. "Chad is a fighter. That's why he's at this point and stage in his life and he's going to continue to fight. ... One way or another, Chad's going to be just fine."It had been reported that Jones' leg was damaged to the degree where it could not be saved. According to Jones' father, that scenario was never mentioned to him.
"I guess that would be a last-ditch possibility, but they seemed optimistic that they have done enough to avoid that," he said.
