Now Commenting On:

Giants' head coach Tom Coughlin stood before the media this afternoon and stated clearly where he wants to be next year.

"I do want to coach," Coughlin said. "Everyone asks me what's next ... I hope it's the coach of the New York Giants."

He sounded unsure that he would be back, but he has yet to meet with ownership and GM Jerry Reese for his annual postseason evaluation.  That will happen in the coming days.

Reese spoke after Coughlin and let his feelings be known.

"I want him to come back," Reese said when asked about Coughlin's status.  Yes, but John Mara and Steve Tisch may be ready to move on. Stay tuned.

It appears the team and Coughlin are kicking around a possible exit plan for him. Reese would not comment on any of Tom's assistants, saying they will wait to make any decisions on personnel.

It is very possible that they want to make a change, but just don't know how to proceed. If they extend Coughlin, he'll probably be here until 2016 -- the year he turns 70. In their eyes, that may be too far out and could try to negotiate a retirement-type settlement with him where he just steps away now. Just a thought...
