The Giants expect Baas to miss three to six weeks.
Update - 4:02 p.m.: Tom Coughlin told reporters that Baas is "weekly" and will not commit to him playing in Week 1.
Jim Cordle took over for Baas at center during the preseason game. Cordle is entering his fourth summer with the Giants out of Ohio State and knows the Giants' system very well, so he figures to continue at center in Baas' absence.
"Actually, last season I practiced a lot." Cordle said last night after the game. "Baas wouldn’t take many reps, so I have been in there, but this training camp he’s been healthy. He came back and he’s taking a lot of reps, but I have in the past."
Cordle played 42 snaps after Baas left the game and feels right at home with the first team offense:
"I feel comfortable. This is my fourth training camp, so I know the offense and I feel like I’m a better player than I have been. I’m confident in myself. If Baas is down for a while, hopefully the team is confident in me."
