Ex-Giant Dominik Hixon tore his ACL for the third time in his career, likely forcing him to retire (Facebook, May 27).

Hixon signed with the Bears in the offseason. He was working in OTAs with Chicago when the injury happened.

Hixon had a productive but injury-marred career as a Giant, losing the entire 2010 season to a torn ACL, suffered before the season during a workout on the brand-new MetLife Stadium turf. He returned for the 2011 season, only to re-tear the ACL making a acrobatic TD catch in a Week 2 victory over the St. Louis Rams.

When he was healthy, Hixon was one of Eli Manning's most reliable receivers as well a top special teams player. He was an excellent punt and kick returner for Big Blue, his best season coming in 2009 when he returned 57 kickoffs for 1291 yards. He also had 17 punt returns for 256 yards, including a 79-yard return for a TD against Dallas late in the season - which is the last time a Giant has achieved the feat.
