Former Giants GM Jerry Reese wants no part of Jon Gruden's Raiders, according to a report.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday that Reese declined Oakland's request to interview for its open general manager job.
The Raiders gig, while similar to the one Reese held in New York from 2007 until last December, comes with a caveat: Gruden, who has coached the team to a 3-11 debacle this season, has significant front office power.
Gruden traded away Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper and is now entering a long-term rebuild after the firing of GM Reggie McKenzie earlier this month. In the first year of a 10-year, $100 million coaching contract, Gruden doesn't appear to be going anywhere.
The 55-year-old Reese has been out of work since he was fired last year with then-Giants coach Ben McAdoo amid a disastrous 3-13 season. Reese served as GM during the Giants' two Super Bowl championships in 2007 and 2011 but had failed to deliver in recent years.
