The "expectation" is that QB prospects Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, and Josh Allen will not be ranked in the Giants' Top 3 when they finalize their board ahead of next month's NFL Draft, reports Paul Schwartz of the NY Post.
Rather, the Giants will likely have RB Saquon Barkley at the top of their Draft board, with OL Quenton Nelson and DE Bradley Chubb rounding out their Top 3 -- though not necessarily in that order -- according to Schwartz.
The Giants, who have the No. 2 pick in the Draft, recently worked out Rosen.
Meanwhile, SNY's Ralph Vacchiano's Mini Mock Draft has the Giants selecting Rosen, after the Browns tab Darnold with the No. 1 pick. Vacchiano then has the Jets tabbing Allen with the No. 3 pick.
Giants GM Dave Gettleman said earlier this offseason that the No. 2 pick should be a Hall-of-Fame caliber player. And if he doesn't view Darnold, Rosen, or Allen that way it will be interesting to see what the Giants do.
Last month, Gettleman discussed the potential of trading down in the Draft.
"Are we open for business? Any decision I make is going to be in the best interest of the New York Giants, plain and simple," he said. "If someone makes me an offer I can't refuse, would I move back? It depends upon who is there."
The Browns, who have the No. 1 and No. 4 picks, are expected to Draft either a quarterback or Barkley first, and the Jets are expected to take a quarterback.
If the Giants were to trade their pick to the Broncos, who have the No. 5 pick, there's a strong chance that either Nelson or Chubb -- and perhaps both -- are still there for the Giants.
