Going into this season, the Giants looked up and down their schedule and shook their heads. The only semi-breathers are this week vs Tampa and another homer against Cleveland. The way these two teams played this week, they may prove to be tough games. The Browns had the Eagles beat yesterday up until the last minute. Tampa held Carolina to 10 yards rushing.
In addition, Washington - who had a lot of the pieces last year except QB - finally have one and they could be a force. RGIII lit up the Superdome yesterday in his NFL debut. The Giants already have problems with the Redskins and now here comes this kid like a reincarnation of Randall Cunningham, the infamous Giant killer.

Niners pick up where they left off.....San Francisco showed perfect balance in their 30-22 manhandling of the Packers at Lambeau Field yesterday. QB Alex Smith (20/26, 211yds, 2 TDs and no picks) managed the game beautifully. Former Giant RB Brandon Jacobs (knee) did not play and WR Mario Manningham had four catches for 29 yards. The 49er defense pummeled Green Bay in a scary display. Both teams are on the Giants' schedule this year.
Bears have an offense....if you doubled down on the Bears in your fantasy draft, good job. The Jay Cutler-Brandon Marshall hookup paid off almost immediately. Cutler (333 yards passing and 2 TDs) hit Marshall for nine times for 119 yards and a TD. Rookie Alshon Jeffery had 80 yards and a score. RBs Matt Forte and Michael Bush combined for 122 yards rushing and three scores.
Still the king....Peyton Manning led his new team - the Denver Broncos - to an opening night victory over the Steelers. In the NFL's ridiculous Top 100 poll this past offseason, Manning placed 50th. If he's No. 50, who are the top 49? Otis Redding wasn't a backup singer for a reason, either. If Peyton grabbed ten guys in the parking lot on the way into the stadium, by halftime, he'd make an offense out of them....
When New England drafted Alabama LB Dont'a Hightower 25th overall this April after sneaking in DE Chandler Jones of Syracuse four picks earlier, the hair stood up on the back of my neck. How did a team that was a tipped pass away from winning the Super Bowl end up with two first round picks to begin with? And then pick these two monsters? Yesterday, in their first game together, Jones sacked Tennessee's Jake Locker forcing a fumble. Hightower scooped up the fumble and ran it in for a TD. Good luck, everyone.
Kansas City TE Kevin Boss had two catches for 36 yards (one was a 22-yd TD) in yesterday's 40-24 loss to Atlanta.
