With not much football to talk about, journalists and bloggers need to get creative with what they write about. I'm a big fan of lists and rankings, so I figured I'd pass this along.
The five Giants Bartolis selected were Eli Manning (#8 QB), Hakeem Nicks (#6 WR), Steve Smith (#15 WR), Chris Snee (#6 OL) and Justin Tuck (#2 DL).
About Eli, he had this to say:
I could argue until I’m blue in the face why Eli should be so high, but I’ll just say put the interceptions last year aside for a minute and look how his completion percentages, yardage, touchdowns, and wins rank with the top quarterbacks since his magical superbowl run in 2007. You might be surprised how well he stacks up statistically, add to that he’s never had a losing season as a full time starter and you have a top 10 quarterbackSound logic. He also referred to Justin Tuck as "the best two way defensive end in the entire league," behind only Julius Peppers.
I have no complaints with any of the Giants who were selected, although an argument can be made for Osi Umenyiora. As for the rankings, I was surprised to see Tuck ranked as high as the second best defensive lineman (not jut defensive end), and Nicks ranked as the sixth best wide receiver (I think he'll be there by the end of the year, but he has to stay healthy for a full season). Glad to see them get some due praise, though.
