The Giants hope to come into Saturday night's game vs the Jets fresher than they've been, but some players, such as WR Victor Cruz (calf), may not see the field.
Safety Nat Berhe, penciled in as a starter before camp, is out of the season after undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot in his troubled calf.
Head coach Tom Coughlin outlined the injuries and the potential scratches on Thursday before practice.
He believes OT Marshall Newhouse (ankle) will play this week.
"He is fine. He just got stepped on," Coughlin said. "That is a surface scratch. Someone stepped on his leg when he was on the ground and it was down relatively low and it scared him because of where the step occurred."
LB Mark Herzlich (concussion) is out again, but another concussed player, CB Jayron Hosley, has been "green-lighed" to play this week. Safety Landon Collins (knee) will also play vs. the Jets Saturday.
MLB Jon Beason (knee) will not play this week. Coughlin did not have any news on when Beason may return.
OL Weston Richburg has been the team's staple at center all summer long, but a knee ailment sidelined him this week. Coughlin was unsure if Richburg would play Saturday but didn't exhibit any long term concern.
"He actually feels pretty good today. We should’ve called a practice for today. We’re going to keep working with him and seeing what the doctors and those people tell me. I don’t have anything new for you right now."
If Richburg doesn't play, Dallas Reynolds will likely get the start at center. The Giants will probably line up their starters for at least the first half.
