The Giants have their hands full this week at the NFL Combine, especially when it comes to evaluating all the top quarterback talent in this year's draft. However, they have already gotten a head start on evaluating QB Davis Webb.
New HC Pat Shurmur and GM Dave Gettleman have been over tape -- both college and practice -- on Webb, and have come away saying they "think highly" of the Giants' third-rounder last year. While with Carolina, Gettleman said that Webb was rated high on their draft board.
But with no experience in his rookie year despite the Giants' 3-13 record, Gettleman and Shurmur don't have much to go off with for Webb. That is why Gettleman referred to the Cal product as "having a Christmas or Hannukah present that you get to unwrap eventually," per SNY's Ralph Vacchiano.
More evaluation will have to be done on the 23-year-old, and soon as it will factor into who the Giants select with their No. 2 overall pick. Shurmur, who is known as a "quarterback whisperer" of sorts after his time with players like Nick Foles, and most recently, Case Keenum, is interested in seeing how Webb does in person.
"I'm excited by what he brings to the table," Shurmur said.
