Let's get the Week 1 discussion going by giving you a quick take on the Carolina Panthers, who come to the New Meadowlands Stadium to face the Giants on Sunday.
Carolina embarrased New York, 41-9, as Big Blue said farewell to Giants Stadium last December.
Three familiar names are gone. Jake Delhomme has been replaced at quarterback by Matt Moore. Delhomme threw 20 interceptions last year so Moore is considered an upgrade. Moore did throw three touchdowns against the Giants last year, but he's still an unknown and Jimmy Clausen is waiting in the wings, so Moore will have to perform. Julius Peppers left for the Bears and that leaves a big hole on defense. Muhsin Muhammad, who spent 11 seasons with Carolina, retired after catching 53 passes a year ago. The Panthers will rely on running backs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart to take the pressure off of Moore. Steve Smith is back at wide receiver after breaking his arm in the game against the Giants last year.
The Giants made the Panthers look real good last December. This is the Giants first chance to look good in 2010.
