It was Manning's 11th career INT against the Vikings.
With Jackson back at the helm, the Vikings were still without Peterson and went to the air. Jackson, who looks eerily like Michael Vick at times, scrambled but could not convert on a 3rd and 8, prompting a Minnesota punt.
The Giants took possession at their own 11. On a 2nd and 8, Brandon Jacobs broke free for 73-yard run, getting all the way to the Vikings' 14 before being brought down by Madieu Williams.
Three plays later, Ahmad Bradshaw - on 2nd and 2 - appeared to have crossed the plane. Officials ruled no TD. The Giants challenged and lost. Bradshaw's elbow was down before the ball crossed.
On 3rd and goal, Jacobs went up the middle untouched for the score. Sage Rosenfels deftly handled and wayward snap from Zak DeOssie and Lawrence Tynes hit the PAT to give the Giants a 7-3 lead with 8:11 to go in the half.
On the ensuing Minnesota possession, the Vikings had to punt again after Barry Cofield sacked Jackson on 3rd and 7 for a nine-yard loss.
With 6:00 remaining, the Giants took over on their own 18. They went three-and-out. Matt Dodge punted to the Minnesota 45. Giants' LB Clint Sintim was hurt on the play and was helped off the field with an apparent knee injury.
The Vikings continued to hurt themselves with penalties on the next drive. The Vikings were again in punt formation after an errant snap zipped past Jackson for a fumble on a 3rd and 9.
The Giants took possession on their own 29 with 1:43 to go in the half. Asher Allen's helmet-to-helmet personal foul on Ahmad Bradshaw fueled a Giant drive. Manning hit Nicks for 29 yards on the next play.
After a nine-play, penalty-riddled sequence, Eli hit Kevin Boss in the back of the of the end zone to give the Giants a 14-3 halftime lead.
Mario Manningham left the game with a hip flexor. Sintim's knee was still being evaluated.
