The defense came out aggressive and even after yielding a first down on a Jonathan Goff pass interference penalty, the Giants forced a Redskins punt on the next series.
On the second play from scrimmage, Eli saw that Mario Manningham got behind Redskins' CB DeAngelo Hall down the right sideline and took a shot.....and what a shot it was. Manningham grabbed the lob and raced untouched to paydirt - a 92-yard pass play (the longest of the season for the Blue) - which gave them a 17-7 lead with 12:19 remaining in the quarter.
Midway through the quarter, with the Redskins driving, Grossman underthrew Mike Sellers and was picked off by Keith Bulluck, who advanced the ball to the Washington 27. The drive ended when Tynes missed a 29-yard FG attempt wide right.
