Thomas missed all of 2011 with a torn ACL and had a recurrence of the injury in his return to the team last month. Rogers is suffering from a blood clot in his leg that has left him sidelined indefinitely.
The Giants will attempt to defend their Super Bowl title with a roster consisting of roughly two-thirds of the personnel that dressed for that game in February. Sixteen new players will be wearing the Blue this season.
The team parted ways with or assigned designations to 15 players earlier today (see post below) and it took nearly six hours to figure out who the other seven cuts/decisions would be. In addition to Thomas and Rogers, the team waived OL Chris White, DB Dante Hughes, DB Laron Scott, QB Ryan Perrilloux and OL Stephen Goodin.
