The Giants have found their veteran backup quarterback.
SNY's Ralph Vacchiano has confirmed that the Giants have agreed to terms with former Washington Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy on a one-year deal worth $2.25 million with $1.5 million guaranteed.
The Giants had previously been linked to former Kansas City and Miami backup Matt Moore, but it's McCoy who will be joining Big Blue's QB room. A source tells Vacchiano that the Giants did make an offer to Moore, but he turned it down.
McCoy, 33, has been in the NFC East with Washington since the 2014 season. Prior to that, he had a brief stint with San Francisco after the Cleveland Browns selected him out of Texas in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft.
The veteran provides the exact playing experience the Giants had seemingly been looking for, giving Daniel Jones someone who knows the ins and outs of the league.
Vacchiano notes that McCoy will compete with Alex Tanney for the backup spot, but McCoy's experience, as both a starter and a backup, could go a long way for him.
McCoy has a career win-loss record of just 7-21, but he's played in 39 total games, completing 60.7 percent of his passes for 6,080 yards, 29 touchdowns and 27 interceptions.
