As per Adam Schefter, the Giants have come to terms with former Seattle DB Walter Thurmond III...

"Giants and former Seahawks CB Walter Thurmond reached agreement on a one-year deal, per source."

CBS Sports' Jason LaCanfora tells us the deal is for one-year at $3.5 million.

Thurmond was the Seahawks' fourth round selection in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Oregon where he played on the same defense as current Giants' LB Spencer Paysinger.

The 26 year-old Los Angeles native is 5"11", 190 lbs. Thurmond has played in 34 games in his four-year career, starting just eight. He suffered a broken fibula in 2011 and missed four games last season for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

This will not cancel today's meeting with CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, but it surely strengthens the Giants' bargaining position. Per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk:

With Thurmond joining Prince Amukamara and Trumaine McBride at cornerback, the Giants don’t need to break the bank to bring Rodgers-Cromartie into the fold. Should the price be right, though, they’d have one of the deeper cornerback groups in the league to throw out on the field against opposing offenses next season. That should come in handy whether or not the Giants are able to boost their pass rush over the rest of the offseason.
