New York is trying to bring back the linebacker who helped shore up their defense in 2013.
The Denver Broncos have also shown interest in Beason.
Not sure what to make of this. "Heated" discussions usually occur when a player in already under contract and is negotiating an extension. Beason is an unrestricted free agent who is shopping himself around the league as his own agent. That could explain why the dialogue has been contentious. Beason has no representation to muddle through the fine print of a contract.
Based on the stories I've been reading this week, players that negotiate on their own behalf usually end up screwing themselves. The Giants are probably doing their best not to wrangle the negotiations with minutia, but Beason would be best served by having another set of eyes check out any offer before he signs.
Just a few minutes ago, Kim Jones of the NFL Network reported the two sides were "close" to a deal, so we'll keep an eye out on that.
