Giants new head coach Joe Judge knows valuable special teamers when he sees one, so it's no surprise the Giants have agreed to bring back WR Cody Core for the next two seasons, SNY's Ralph Vacchiano confirmed.
Core can make up to $4.7 million on his deal, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan.
Special teams coach Thomas McGaughey, who was one of the very few staffers retained by Judge, loved Core on special teams last season with his stellar speed and ability to make plays becoming such an advantage for his group. He was normally the first one to the ball carrier -- or ball itself -- on punts running as a gunner.
Core is also a low depth option if need be in the receiving game, catching three receptions for 28 yards last season -- two for a first down.
It might not be the biggest of signings, but Core plays a vital role for the Giants and is being rewarding after checking off all the boxes in his first season away from Cincinnati. The Bengals drafted him in the sixth round back in 2016.
