After just one game, Daniel Jones fever has caught fire throughout the NFL with many amazed by what the Giants rookie quarterback did in his debut on Sunday against the Bucs. Reactions ranged from golf claps of approval to former Jets head coach Rex Ryan saying he would take Jones over Sam Darnold right now.
That fever hasn't been overlooked by the sportsbooks, either.
Jones' performance has caught their eye, enough for some to make him the favorite to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year this season. At the moment, DraftKings has Jones' odds set at +200, which is 150 points better than Cardinals QB Kyler Murray. FoxBet also has Jones as their favorite at +225 compared to Murray's +320.
There are a couple of books that have Murray -- the No. 1 overall pick -- as the favorite for the award. PointsBet has Murray at +250 odds with Jones just behind him at +300. FanDuel's is even closer with Murray at +220 compared +260.
If Jones can continue playing like he did on Sunday, those odds could get even better, and maybe every sportsbook will be on his side. He had an amazing debut with 336 yards on 23-of-36 passing with two rushing and two passing touchdowns to capture his first career win.
Murray, on the other hand, isn't trending in the right direction with the Cards who are 0-2-1 on the season thus far. Last week, he threw for 173 yards with two touchdowns, but two interceptions. Overall, he has 830 yards with a 61.3 completion percentage with four touchdowns and three interceptions on the year.
Jones will be going up against a bad Redskins team on Sunday, so he could definitely take advantage of that matchup to boost his credentials for Rookie of the Year. But it will certainly take more good performances to be considered for the award at the end of the season.
