RB Paul Perkins, the Giants' fifth-round pick, is joining their offseason activities after completing his academic requirements at UCLA, reports say.
Perkins was able to view all of Giants camp remotely from an iPad and was given the offensive plays and play scripts. He was also in regular contact with running backs coach Craig Johnson and head coach Ben McAdoo and hopes this will allow him to easily catch up when he joins the team for the official start of the season.
Perkins spent three seasons at UCLA, where he played 39 games and accumulated 4,227 yards and 32 touchdowns. His 15 touchdowns from scrimmage last year were second in the Pac-12.
He will be the sixth running back on the Giants' roster, joining Rashad Jennings, Shane Vereen, Andre Williams, Orleans Darkwa and Bobby Rainey.
