Are Giant fans in for a long season? From what we've seen so far, yes. The overall health of the team is worse than it was a year ago, and key players such as WR Victor Cruz, DE Jason Pierre-Paul, MLB Jon Beason and LT Will Beatty are either missing time or going to miss time.
On a conference call yesterday, former Giant great Phil Simms painted a bleak picture of the Giants 2015 season, saying "the confidence level cannot be high." From today's NY Daily News:
"Sloppy, nothing crisp about it," Simms said of the Giants' play. "All I kept reading (was) how great they looked in practice, how they went down (to practice) against the Cincinnati Bengals, looked great against a pretty athletic team. …Then they play them in the game, and they looked totally lost. Or not lost, but no enthusiasm, no crispness.
"A lot of question marks about the Giants, and I don't think they erased any of those question marks in the preseason. I think that's the best thing I can say."
No one here at SNY (including myself) is optimistic about the upcoming season, either. From Wednesday's programming....
