Now Commenting On:

The Giants added six more free agents to their ever-changing roster this week, bringing the total number to 24 since free agency began March 11th. GM Jerry Reese has signed back ten of his own free agents and 14 from other teams.

[sny-box]The week that was...3/30-4/5

3/31 - re-signed DT Mike Patterson - 1 year deal, $920K

3/31 - signed DB Zack Bowman (CHI) - 1 year deal, $795K

4/1 - signed OT Charles Brown (NO) - 1 year deal, $795K

4/2 - signed DE Robert Ayers (DEN) - 2 year deal, $3.75M

4/4 - signed WR Travis Harvey (No Team) - terms undisclosed

4/4 - signed TE Kellen Davis (SEA) - 1-yr deal, details pending[/sny-box]

What was gained...Patterson was expected to return. He had an outstanding year for the Giants in 2013, helping the Giants' turn their run defense around. Bowman adds more depth to the ever-growing army of DBs Reese has been stockpiling this offseason. Brown gives the Giants a nice option at swing tackle, much like Sean Locklear did two seasons ago. Ayers will be a steady addition to the d-line, providing some pass rush ability as well as a strong presence vs the run. Davis is a big, blocking TE that catch the football in the short passing game, including the red zone. Harvey is basically an unknown the Giants hope will compete for a roster spot this summer.
