Witherspoon injured his knee while retuning a punt and as of press time, the extent of the injury is unknown. As of last night, it did not look promising, though....
From Jeff Roberts of the Bergen Record:
Brian Witherspoon, who was carted off the field in the second half with a sprain of the MCL in his left knee. He will undergo an MRI today to confirm the diagnosis.Coach Tom Coughlin was very concerned, naturally. He is now paper-thin at CB.
“We won’t know for sure ‘til tomorrow,” he said.
But a dejected Witherspoon did not seem confident after the game that a sprain was all he could be facing. He seemed to be in a lot of pain whenever he gingerly moved his leg.
Aaron Ross will move into Thomas' spot across from Corey Webster. After that, your guess is as good as anyone's. The group is not an impressive one: Michael Coe, Joe Burnett and Darnell Burks to name a few. Prince Amukamara is not due back for another six weeks.
"We just have to make some decisions, whether or not there is anybody out there that we can bring in, and shuffle some guys around," Coughlin said after the game. "Because of the 90, we had a lot of corners and a lot of safeties. That number has been depleted obviously."
They will be making a trade, no doubt.
