Now Commenting On:

Lots happening in the land of the Giants these days. Jerry Reese has been active this far, and there's still so much more to do...

First and foremost, the Giants struck an agreement with MLB Jon Beason. The terms of the deal are forthcoming.

Second, the two-year, $8 million deal the Giants agreed to extend to DE/LB O'Brien Schofield was placed on hold after the Giants' medical team found issues with Schofield's knee. Some sources say the deal is dead, while others believe the Giants may simply reduce their offer.

The Giants also formally announced the release of C David Baas. He was listed "waived/failed physical" by the club.

Former Denver Broncos C JD Walton was signed by the Giants to an undisclosed deal. Walton has not played in an NFL game since since Week 4 of the 2012 season when he suffered a broken ankle.

Tampa Bay officially released CB Darrelle Revis on Wednesday. The Giants were one of the teams that inquired about his services. Revis is supposedly asking $16 million per season, so you can count the Giants out.

LB Marcus Dowtin, who played in three games for the Giants in 2013, was waived.

The team finalized the the contracts of several players:

OL Geoff Schwartz: Four years, $16.8 million ($6.2 million guaranteed)

RB Rashad Jennings: Four years, $14 million ($3 million guaranteed)

RB Peyton Hillis: Two years, $1.8 million but only $100k is guaranteed.

K Josh Brown: Two years, $2.5 million w/ $500k in incentives

S Stevie Brown: One year, approx $3 million

CB Trumaine McBride: Two years, $3.1 million

Schwartz cleared up his status today by saying he can play both guard positions and right tackle, but he's going to start at left guard for the Giants. That leads us to believe Chris Snee is healthy enough to stay penciled in at right guard and Justin Pugh will remain at tackle.

WR/KR Jacoby Jones visited the Giants today, but left without a contract. It was reported afterward that Jones had agreed on a 4-year, $14 million with his old club, the Baltimore Ravens.

RamsĀ OL Shelley Smith came into QDTC for a visit, and is now headed to New England. All options are reportedly still open.

Saints DB Tracy Porter visited the Giants as well. No word on how that went.

Former Giant LB Keith Rivers was inked to a two-year, $5 million deal by the Buffalo Bills.

Three former Giants were in Oakland to visit the Raiders: DE Justin Tuck, DB Terrell Thomas and RB Andre Brown. The Raiders have not made any offers that we know of. They have a load of money to spend, so the list of players scheduling visits with them is endless at this point.

Former Giant DT Linval Joseph said he chose Minnesota over Atlanta and Oakland. When asked about the Giants' offer, Joseph said, "I know it was nowhere near the Vikings number, I can say that."[/sny-details]
