The win gave the Giants nine on the season, the same number as last year, but not enough to get them a pass into the Super Bowl tournament. They needed Detroit to knock off Chicago (along with other circumstances) in order to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Lions lost, 26-24, at Ford Field ending any designs the Giants may have had of defending their title.
It is the third time in the past four seasons the Giants have failed to qualify for the postseason.
Eli Manning broke out of his funk with three TD passes in the first quarter (a career first for him) and had 5 TD passes in a game for first time in his career. He had 208 yards on 13/21 passing.
RBs Ahmad Bradshaw (16 carries, 107 yards, 1 TD) and David Wilson (15 for 75 and a receiving TD) provided a powerful 1-2 punch on the ground. Bradshaw broke the 1,000 yard mark for the second time in his career.
Rookie WR Rueben Randle had two TD catches filling in for Hakeem Nicks and FB Henry Hynoski had the first as a pro on a 1-yard swing pass from Eli.
Victor Cruz (4 rec, 53 yards and a TD) became the first Giant player to record 80+ receptions, 1,000+ yards and 10+ TDs in a single season.
The defense played with a purpose and contained a rusty Michael Vick, forcing him into some wild throws, one which was intercepted by S Stevie Brown - his league-tying 8th of the season.
