After a loss in Dallas last night, the Giants have once again started their season 0-2. It is the fifth time in six years that this has occurred for Big Blue.
But Giants S Landon Collins is sure things are going to turn around.
Collins tweeted out a message for all those doubting the Giants already, saying the team is willing to put in the work to figure things out and bounce back.
We will figure this out...no worries...we are to good of team and family...#WEAREONE- LANDON COLLINS (@TheHumble_21) September 17, 2018
Heading into the season, the Giants' mindset was "win-now mode," but that obviously hasn't been the case. They couldn't get anything going on offense against the Cowboys, who pressured Eli Manning all night long. They collected six sacks from all of their quarterback pressures, including one that resulted in a fumble from Manning.
The offensive line continues to be a weakness, and now that C Jon Halapio is out for the season with fractures in his lower leg and ankle, a replacement could make things even worse.
However, there is some positive to look at on the Giants through these first two games. Collins' defensive unit has not been bad at all, ranking sixth in the NFL through the first two weeks with 301.5 yards allowed per game.
Also, it is clear the impact that Saquon Barkley can make on the offense, especially in the passing game after his 14 receptions. He may not have gotten the amount of yards that would normally equate to that total, but Barkley showed off his sure hands and ability to make tacklers miss.
The Giants have time to figure it out, and next week presents a great opportunity against another struggling team in the Houston Texans. Hopefully, Collins' promise will come true sooner rather than later.
