Among those cut include wide receivers James Jones and Corey Washington, linebacker Jameel McClain, safety Jeromy Miles, fullback Henry Hynoski and cornerback Chykie Brown.
McClain recorded a career-best and team-high 117 tackles (75 solo) last season in his first year with the Giants.
“Another [cut] that was tough,” coach Tom Coughlin said. “He’s obviously a recent addition here. But he’s always been a very upbeat and positive guy, and always looking for the bright side of everything. ... He’ll take charge of the huddle for you, there’s no doubt about that.”
Sixteen of the Giants' 53 players were not with the team last season.
“It’s what you see throughout the league,” Coughlin said about the year-to-year turnover. “I think that sometimes, to be honest with you, that number and that percentage is a good thing. ... It happens naturally, but it’s a constant as you try and improve."
The Giants kept all six draft picks from 2015, including Mykkele Thompson, who's on injured reserve with an Achilles injury. They enter the season with six receivers, eight offensive linemen, 10 defensive linemen and 10 defensive backs, including Cooper Taylor and Brandon Meriweather.
