Landon Collins' 2017 season is officially over after the Giants placed him on injured reserve with a broken forearm. In a corresponding move, they've signed LB Derrick Matthews from the practice squad.
Collins' season ends with 104 combined tackles, 2 interceptions and another Pro-Bowl selection, his second. His 47 consecutive start streak will end as well, as he'll miss his first game as a professional football player.
When Collins learned of the news, he broke down.
"I don't even remember the last time I cried," Collins said, via Michael Eisen of Giants.com. "As soon as I saw the picture on the X-ray, man, I just broke down. I couldn't hold it in, I broke down."
Matthews, 25, went to the University of Houston where he recorded 400 tackles.
