The Giants have re-signed CB Michael Hunter to the 53-man roster, and have placed RB Shane Vereen on the IR, the team announced on Tuesday.
Hunter went undrafted in this year's draft and signed with the Giants as a rookie free agent in May. He was promoted from the practice squad last Tuesday, but was waived on Saturday when the team added practice squad S Andrew Adams to the active roster for Sunday's game against Washington.
After being placed on injured reserve, Vereen can return to practice with the team in as soon as six weeks from now, and can suit up for a game in eight weeks, assuming he's ready.
The Giants also announced the signing of DB Doran Grant to the team's practice squad.
Grant was a fourth round pick of the Steelers in the 2015 NFL Draft. Prior to being drafted, he played four years at Ohio State, and started opposite CB Eli Apple in the Buckeyes' secondary.
