The Giants wide receiving corps has taken its fair share of losses early this season, and unfortunately it continued this past week with Sterling Shepard out against the Patriots as he dealt with his second concussion already this season.
Shepard's status for Week 7 is also up in the air, so the Giants are bringing back a familiar face to fill what could be a void this Sunday.
Bennie Fowler has re-signed with the Giants, SNY's Ralph Vacchiano confirmed. Releasing Nate Stupar was the corresponding move to place Fowler on the 53-man roster.
Fowler was released along with T.J. Jones at the beginning of the month to make room for Golden Tate, who was coming off his four-game suspension. He played in those first four games with Big Blue, hauling in 12 receptions on 20 targets for 99 yards.
Fowler, though, did have some issues with securing the ball when thrown to him. Having a few drops over that span forced him out of the wide receivers room when Tate was brought back in.
Now he could see a chance to redeem himself, as long as Shepard does stay out against the Cardinals this week. Tate, Darius Slayton and Cody Latimer would be the top receivers over him, but he may get an opportunity to make something happen on the MetLife Stadium turf.
