To make room for Fredericks, the Giants waived OL Selvish Capers. The move leaves the team with only seven offensive lineman on the roster: David Baas, Chris Snee, Kevin Boothe, David Diehl, Will Beatty, Jim Cordle and James Brewer.
From Michael Eisen of Giants.com:
Frederick, 5-11 and 188 pounds, was signed to the practice squad on September 7, a week after he was waived by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Frederick was selected by the Steelers on the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft, the 246th overall selection. He played in all four of Pittsburgh’s preseason games, finishing with four tackles on defense, two on special teams and a pass defensed.
At Texas A&M, Frederick played in 50 games with 49 starts, including the last 39 games of his career. An honorable mention All-Big 12 selection in 2010 and 2011, Frederick finished his career with 205 tackles, six sacks, four interceptions and 29 passes defensed. As a senior, he led the team with 13 pass breakups. He returned an interception 57 yards vs. Kansas State and scooped up a blocked punt and returned it 63 yards for a touchdown vs. Texas Tech.
