The Giants have added some depth to their wide receiver corps as they signed veteran WR Russell Shepard, the team announced Tuesday.
Shepard has been in the NFL for five seasons, spending time with the Bucs and Panthers. He was with the Bucs from 2013-16, where he totaled 634 yards and four touchdowns on 47 receptions over 72 regular-season games.
Last season with the Panthers, Shepard played in 15 games, earning three starts along the way. He had 17 receptions for 202 yards and one touchdowns. He was released by the team last week.
Shepard is also a special teamer that has some time as a returner. He averaged 21.7 yards on three kickoff returns last season.
The 27-year-old does have Giants ties as his played alongside Odell Beckham Jr. during his college years at LSU.
To make room for Shepard, CB Tim Scott was waived by the Giants on Tuesday.
